Advertising Terms

1. Who these terms bind

These Advertising Terms apply to any person or business ("you", "the Advertiser") that books, supplies, or runs advertising on Ipoh.my, which is operated by Tech Ninja Enterprise (003276888-W), a business registered in Malaysia ("we", "us"). That covers three things: buying a banner slot, a creator buying a Creator Spotlight on their own videos, and a business holding a Place Spotlight on a listing it has claimed. Booking a slot, starting a Spotlight, or holding a Place Spotlight means you accept them. They sit alongside our Terms of Service; where the two conflict on an advertising matter, these terms govern.

Sections 2 to 7 are written for banner advertising. Neither a Creator Spotlight nor a Place Spotlight involves artwork or booked dates, so those sections apply to them only where they plainly can; section 8 sets out what governs a Creator Spotlight and section 8A sets out what governs a Place Spotlight, and where either conflicts with sections 2 to 7, section 8 or 8A governs.

2. Your warranties about the creative

You warrant that you own or are licensed to use everything in the artwork you supply — images, logos, fonts, music, and any person's name or likeness — and that the banner and its landing page are accurate, lawful under Malaysian law, and not misleading. You are responsible for holding any licence, permit, or registration your advertised business requires.

3. What we will not run

We may refuse or remove any advertisement at our discretion. We will not knowingly run creatives that:

• are unlawful, defamatory, deceptive, or infringe someone else's rights;
• promote gambling, tobacco or vaping, adult content, unlicensed financial or medical claims, or anything requiring a licence you do not hold;
• imitate our own interface, imitate editorial content, or otherwise imply the ad is part of Ipoh.my's editorial coverage;
• imitate a system message, a video player, or a control the reader might mistake for site UI;
• auto-play sound, flash, or otherwise interfere with reading the page;
• carry tracking pixels, scripts, or anything that sets cookies. We serve banners as static images from our own storage — nothing you supply executes in a reader's browser.

4. Placement and labelling

Advertisements are labeled as such and are placed only in Ipoh.my's own page furniture. They are never placed over, inside, or wrapped around an embedded creator video — this is a condition of the video platforms' embed terms and is not negotiable. We choose final placement, and we may move, resize, or pause a slot for editorial, technical, or legal reasons.

5. No endorsement, no editorial influence

Advertising with us does not make you a partner or affiliate and is not an endorsement by Ipoh.my. It buys banner space and nothing else: it does not affect your position in our listings, search results, or trending rankings, it does not affect how we moderate content about you, and it does not affect how we handle a content-removal request.

6. What is and is not guaranteed

We report impressions and clicks as aggregate counts measured by our own systems, and those figures are the reference for any dispute. We do not guarantee a minimum number of impressions, clicks, sales, or any particular audience, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted display. Where a booked campaign is materially interrupted by a fault on our side, your remedy is a pro-rata extension of the campaign or a credit of the affected period back to your account balance, to spend on a future booking — never a cash refund; see section 11.

7. Term, payment, and cancellation

Bookings are paid for from your advertising credits (see section 11) at the price shown when you submit. Submitting a booking reserves that many credits; they are spent when we approve it, and the campaign then runs for the dates shown on your booking.

While a booking is still awaiting review you may withdraw it from your dashboard, and the credits it reserved become available again in full. If we reject a booking, its credits are released in the same way. Once we have approved a booking its credits are spent, and it cannot be cancelled for credit or for money.

We may suspend or end a live campaign immediately if a creative breaches section 2 or 3, or if we receive a credible legal complaint about it. In that case we credit the unused days back to your account balance as advertising credit — not as a cash refund.

8. Creator Spotlight

A Creator Spotlight is a paid highlight a creator buys on their own videos. While it is running, the cards that link to your videos carry an animated border in a style you choose, and a Spotlight badge in the corner of the card.

Eligibility. You may only buy a Spotlight for a creator profile you have claimed and for which you have granted us the content licence. We monetise around a creator's work only with that creator's permission, and a Spotlight is you monetising your own. If you withdraw that licence for a profile, the Spotlight ends for that profile's videos.

What it covers. One subscription covers every video on every profile you have claimed and licensed, including videos added later, at no extra charge. You may change the border style at any time from your dashboard.

Term, renewal, and cancellation. A Spotlight is a monthly subscription charged to the payment method you set up, and it renews automatically each month until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard, without notice or explanation. Cancelling stops the next charge; your Spotlight continues to the end of the month you have already paid for and then stops. We do not charge part-months and we do not refund them — cancelling early in a month costs the same as cancelling late in it. If you delete your Ipoh.my account, your subscription is cancelled at once and your Spotlight stops immediately; the current month is not refunded.

Price and payment method. The monthly price is the one shown on our Spotlight page when you subscribe. A Spotlight can only be paid by card, including a card held in a wallet such as Apple Pay or Google Pay where your device offers one, because a monthly renewal has to be charged again without you at the checkout; the other methods offered for advertising credits cannot do that. You can change the card, and see your invoices, from your dashboard. If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before your first renewal at the new price, and you may cancel before then to avoid it.

Failed renewals. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it over the following days. Your Spotlight stops at the end of the month you have already paid for and returns as soon as a retry succeeds. If every retry fails, the subscription ends and we stop charging you.

Not bought with advertising credits. A Spotlight is charged separately and is not paid for out of the prepaid advertising credits described in section 11. Credits buy banner placement; they are not a wallet for subscriptions.

Placement. The border and badge are drawn in Ipoh.my's own card furniture, around the thumbnail. They are never placed over, inside, or wrapped around an embedded video player — the same non-negotiable condition of the platforms' embed terms that governs banners under section 4.

No editorial influence. A Spotlight buys visual prominence and nothing else. It does not change where your videos appear in our listings, search results, or trending rankings; it does not affect how we moderate your content, and a spotlit video is reviewed and removed on the same terms as any other; and it does not affect how we handle a content-removal request about it. We promise no views, clicks, likes, or reach.

Suspension. We may remove the border from your videos at our discretion — for example where a Spotlight is used to draw attention to content that breaches our Terms of Service, or where a credible legal complaint is made about a spotlit video. Doing so does not refund the current month and does not by itself cancel your subscription; if we intend the arrangement to end, we will cancel it and stop charging you.

Withdrawal of the feature. We may retire a border style or the Spotlight product itself. If we retire the product, we stop charging you and no further renewal is taken; if we retire a style you are using, we will move you to another.

8A. Place Spotlight

A Place Spotlight is a paid highlight bought by the business that has claimed a listing. While it is running, that place's marker and its popup on our map are drawn differently: the marker becomes a distinct Spotlight pin, and the popup carries an animated border in a style you choose plus a Spotlight badge.

How it is bought, for now. A Place Spotlight cannot yet be bought on its own: you buy a Spotlight as a creator, with a claimed creator profile that has accepted our content licence, and every listing you have claimed comes with it.

What it covers. A Place Spotlight is part of the same monthly subscription as a Creator Spotlight: while it is running, every listing you have claimed carries it at no extra charge, and section 8's term, renewal, and cancellation clauses apply.

What it does not cover. A Place Spotlight applies to the map only. It does not change where the place appears in our listings, search results or trending rankings, and it does not apply any highlight to the video cards shown on or for that place. Those belong to the creators who made them, and only a creator can buy a highlight on their own videos.

No editorial influence. A Place Spotlight buys no ranking, placement, or moderation advantage of any kind, and it does not affect how we handle a content-removal request.

Eligibility. You may only buy a Place Spotlight for a listing you have claimed and we have approved. If that claim is later withdrawn, reversed, or transferred, we may end the Place Spotlight on that listing; in any case it runs no longer than the period you have already paid for.

9. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your advertisement, your landing page, or a breach of these terms — including intellectual-property and consumer-protection claims brought by third parties.

10. Data protection

We set no advertising cookies and build no profiles of readers. We do not sell, share, or otherwise transfer personal data about our readers to advertisers, and the reporting you receive is aggregate counts only. Any personal data you give us for billing is handled under our Privacy Policy and Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act.

11. Prices and service tax

Prices are shown in Malaysian ringgit and are exclusive of service tax. Ipoh.my is not currently registered for service tax, so no service tax is charged. If Ipoh.my becomes registered, service tax will be added to bookings made on or after the date registration takes effect, and we will say so before you confirm a booking.

Payments are processed by Stripe, and the payment methods available to you are shown at checkout; a Spotlight is card-only, as section 8 explains. Advertising credits are a prepayment for advertising on Ipoh.my. They cannot be transferred to another account, exchanged for money, or refunded, and they expire 365 days after purchase. Your credits page shows how much expires and when, and warns you 30 days and 7 days before a purchase expires. Credits unused when they expire, or when you delete your account, are forfeited. Deleting your account also cancels any campaign awaiting review and stops any approved campaign immediately, with no credit or money returned for the unused days.

12. Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update these terms. Changes apply to campaigns booked after they take effect, and to a running Spotlight from its first renewal after we have told you about them. These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Advertising enquiries go to [email protected]; see also our Advertise page.
